By car
From the motorway Roma–Civitavecchia (A12), coming from Rome take the Fregene–Maccarese exit. Turn left after pay toll (EUR 0.80). Turn right at the T-junction into Via dei Tre Denari. After about 1.5 km, almost opposite the train station, turn right into Bioversity's grounds and car park.

From the Aurelia (SS1), coming from Rome, turn off toward Fregene–Cesano. At the roundabout, keep left towards Fregene–Maccarese. Drive for about 7 km on the country road. After the bridge over the railway, keep right. Drive for about 300 mt along Via dei Tre Denari, parallel to the railway line. Bioversity International is opposite the railway station at no. 472/a: there is car parking in the grounds.

By train
Use the Roma–Civitavecchia line. Trains are hourly and depart from Termini and stop at these stations: Tuscolana, Ostiense, Trastevere, S. Pietro, Aurelia, and MACCARESE/Fregene — next to Bioversity International's offices. The return trip follows the same route. Journey time is around half an hour.

Timetables are available at each train station. The summer and winter timetables differ slightly.

ATAC/COTRAL Blu buses
Buses leave from Lepanto Metro station (Line A), in Viale Giulio Cesare, drive along the Via Aurelia, stop at the Maccarese railway station and proceed for Fregene. Timetables are available at the Lepanto and Maccarese stations. Buses are almost hourly. The return trip follows the same route.

Local orange buses
There are also buses connecting Maccarese train station to Maccarese historical center, the towns of Fregene, Testa di Lepre, Aranova, Passoscuro, Focene and the Hospital of 'Bambino Gesu'. Timetables are available at Maccarese Station.
