Gender and Diversity
Bioversity is an equal opportunity employer and strives for staff diversity because it believes that when staff diversity is sought, respected and enhanced, organizations have a greater ability to:

  • respond to changing workforce demographics, including greater participation by women and members of other historically under-represented social groups;
  • strengthen collaborative modes of work by accentuating interdependence, partnerships and alliances;
  • build innovation, creativity and problem solving through supporting multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary teams;
  • advance social justice and equality;
  • improve retention of highly qualified staff by offering progressive and satisfying work experiences;
  • excel in performance and reputation by modeling the workplace of the future; and
  • tap into new knowledge networks giving broader access to clients, beneficiaries and investors.

Bioversity provides an administrative home for the CGIAR Gender & Diversity Program Leader in Rome. This program provides global services and resources focused on supporting an organizational culture of inclusion, dignity, well-being and opportunity, in both policy and practice. It promotes such activities as diversity-positive recruitment, international teamwork, cross-cultural communications and advancement for women.

The CGIAR’s Gender & Diversity Program includes an Inclusive Workplace E-Resource Center that is designed to share recommendations for diversity policies and practices considered essential for good people management in multicultural organizations.
