Forest Genetic Resources Fellowship


Bioversity, in collaboration with the Austrian Federal Research and Training Centre for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape (BFW), Department of Genetics, awards two-year fellowships on Forest Genetic Resources to outstanding young scientists.

The two-year fellowship is awarded to a selected individual from respective national programme, identified on the basis of research innovation and practical relevance of the research topic to the home institute and country. It will take the form of a research project conducted at the BFW's Department of Genetics.

The individual work programme is elaborated together with the host and the applicant's home institutes. BFW's Department of Genetics will host the fellow in its laboratories and will provide the technical backstopping and laboratory facilities.

Current Forest Genetic Resources Fellows

Ormon Esenbekovich Sultangaziev

Ormon Sultangaziev from Kyrgyzstan started his fellowship at BFW in November 2007. Ormon's research is on "Characterization of genetic structure and reproductive biology of Juniperus seravschanica Kom in Kyrgyzstan".

Ormon is a Forestry engineer from the Kyrgyz Agrarian University, presently a second year PhD student.

Bioversity International, in collaboration with the Austrian Research and Training Centre for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape (BFW), Department of Genetics, is pleased to announce a two-year research fellowship on Forest Genetic Resources.

The fellowship will be awarded to an outstanding young scientist who is expected to continue working in the field of forest genetic resources in her/his respective national programme.

Deadline for applications: 3 November 2008.

Bioversity International y el Departamento de Genética del Research and Training Centre for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape de Austria (BFW) se complacen en anunciar una beca de apoyo a la investigación en recursos genéticos forestales, con una duración de dos años.

La beca se otorgará a un joven científico destacado de un programa nacional con perspectivas de continuar trabajando en el campo de los recursos genéticos forestales.

Fecha límite de aplicación: 3 de noviembre del 2008.
