Overview
Fellowships
One of Bioversity International's objectives is to enable human and institutional capacity to better conserve and make effective and sustainable use of agricultural biodiversity. To meet that goal, Bioversity International offers three targeted research fellowship schemes:
- the Vavilov-Frankel Fellowship,
- the Abdou Salam Ouédraogo Fellowship in forestry for Sub-Saharan Africa and
- the Forest Genetic Resources Fellowship
These fellowships serve to strengthen national partner capacity for innovative research on agricultural and forest biodiversity, fill knowledge gaps on priority topics and also strengthen partnerships between research institutes in the North and the South.
Research staff at Bioversity International also facilitate partner applications to competitive research grant schemes such as the IFAR Professional Development Grant Programme, Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellowship and Borlaug Leadership Enhancement in Agriculture Program (LEAP) and Japan-CGIAR Fellowship Program and co-supervise research.
Alumni from these fellowship programmes come from around the world and work on key issues in agricultural biodiversity management.
Researchers are profiled in our Fellows' Gallery.
