Internships
Objectives
Bioversity's internship programme has three major objectives:
- to offer young graduate or undergraduate students an opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in their field of specialization
- to promote a better understanding of Bioversity and the CGIAR system
- to provide groups at headquarters and in the regions with the assistance of outstanding young students specializing in fields relevant to Bioversity's activities.
Eligibility
Applicants for internships must be currently enrolled in a university or graduate school and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies, or alternatively, have completed their university studies within the past six months.
Interns will not be eligible for employment as regular staff members during the internship or for a period of six months following the expiration of their internship.
General Conditions
Normally, interns will be employed for a maximum period of up to one year, with a possible extension for a further period of up to six months. They may be paid a modest stipend, to assist them to cover their essential maintenance during the time of their internship.
Interns will be granted two days of vacation leave per completed month of service, and medical insurance during the period of the internship will be covered by Bioversity unless they are otherwise adequately insured.

Please be advised that Bioversity International will only contact those applicants to whom it may be able to offer an internship. The applications will be retained by the organization for a maximum of 12 months.
