Partners

Since its creation, Bioversity has sought to implement innovative ways to incorporate partnerships at the global, regional, national, and local levels. Bioversity's wide remit of research, advocacy, policy and legal work and capacity building means effective partnership working is at the heart of how we operate. We engage with a wide range of partners to enhance our expertise, capacities, resources and networks.

We work with around 300 research partners including individuals, organizations, networks and international organizations and programmes. Research organizations (mainly governmental organizations) are the most numerous and important of Bioversity International's partners.

The criteria used to select partners include:

  • technical or scientific competence
  • opportunity for multiplying effects (scaling up)
  • geographic relevance
  • cost effectiveness (i.e., leveraging potential of the partnership)
  • opportunities to achieve other institutional objectives such as capacity building, influencing policy and increasing public awareness.
