Bioversity International agrees to join CGIAR Consortium
At the 35th Meeting of the Bioversity International Board of Trustees in Montpellier, France, the Board Chair and Director General issued the following statement:
Bioversity International welcomes the CGIAR Change Process which will better position the system to addresses the challenges of malnutrition, poverty and environmental degradation that face the world.
The Bioversity Board of Trustees is convinced that the creation of the Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centres will allow agricultural research to have the voice and practical skills it requires to contribute to shaping solutions to problems of development.
The Board therefore enthusiastically agreed to sign the Agreement establishing the Consortium.
Bioversity International looks forward to playing a significant part in a newly invigorated CGIAR system and stands ready to help in any way it can.
