Experts call for action to address the loss of knowledge about plants
Concerned by the alarming loss of plant species, on 1-2 May international experts met in St Louis, USA, calling for a concerted worldwide effort to address the loss of essential knowledge about plants and their uses, especially at the level of local communities.

Biodiversity & Sustainable Diets: United Against Hunger
3-5 November 2010, Rome
The programme is now available for the International Scientific Symposium, ‘Biodiversity & Sustainable Diets: United Against Hunger’. The 3-day event, which starts next week, is jointly hosted by Bioversity International and FAO.
The focus of the symposium is the global challenge of biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation, considering their impact on poverty and health. It will also consider the need to re-examine food systems and will present case studies that examine ways to improve the nutritional quality, affordability and sustainability of diets while protecting food biodiversity.
