Plant Genetic Resources and Food Security - Stakeholder Perspectives on the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture [2] is the latest publication in the Earthscan/Bioversity International series ‘Issues in Agricultural Biodiversity’.
The International Treaty [3] provides a route map for the use of plant genetic resources for sustainable agriculture and food security. The book [4]explains how key stakeholders in the global food chain came together and put aside differing agendas to reach an agreement for the sake of food security and hunger alleviation in the world.
It touches upon many issues such as international food governance and policy, economic aspects of food and seed trade, conservation and sustainable use of food and agricultural biodiversity, hunger alleviation, ecological concerns, plant breeding techniques and socio-economic benefits related to food local economies.
