International Conference for Improving Agriculture-based Livelihoods in Central Africa: Oct 24-27, Rwanda

The Consortium for Improving Agriculture-based Livelihoods in Central Africa (CIALCA  [2]) International Conference starts today in Rwanda.

'Challenges and Opportunities for Agricultural Intensification of the Humid Highland Systems of Sub-Saharan Africa' will take place over 4 days.

The conference will:

  • take stock of the state of the art of agricultural intensification in the highlands of sub-Saharan Africa
  • chart the way forward for agricultural research for development in the humid highlands

The CIALCA Consortium has set up a research for development platform in various mandate areas in Central Africa, aiming to identify improved production, market and nutrition options. It is led by Bioversity International, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)  [3] and the International Centre of Tropical Agriculture (CIAT)  [4]
