This objective seeks to understand how to integrate and implement the tools and methodologies of agricultural biodiversity [1] to positively impact nutrition development programmes [2] and food assistance on the ground.
Bioversity will undertake operations research on delivery system approaches of development work on food systems approaches in different regional agro-ecosystem hubs through rigorous monitoring and evaluation. The ultimate goal is to ensure that dietary quality and diversity and, ultimately, health and nutrition outcomes improve through integrated development work.
To design, collaborate, monitor and evaluate development programmes that implement agricultural biodiversity with agriculture and nutrition interventions, and generate the evidence of these programmes’ health and nutrition benefits and cost effectiveness.
To assess the added value of agricultural biodiversity when integrated with other components of a food system approach including ecosystem services, health care, education, infrastructure, water and sanitation and agriculture production systems.
