This directory is edited by IPGRI Office for East Asia as a followup of the recommendations of Workshop on Buckwheat Genetic Resources for East Asia held in Tsukuba, Japan on 18-20 September 1991. It contains the relevant information on buckwheat germplasm collections maintained by different institutes around the world.
The information was gathered from the answers to the questionnaires as well as other relevant sources. However, some of the information may be inaccurate or incomplete. It is hoped that there will be feedback to IPGRI from the users for any corrections and additions. It is intended to review and issue a revision as and when necessary.
The directory is formatted according to the standards used in other directories of germplasm collections published by IPGRI Headquarters. It is hoped that this directory will prove useful, and that it will act as a catalyst in stimulating interest in the conservation and use of the buckwheat genetic resources.
