On June 26th 2014, Bioversity International reached a significant milestone – 40 years of operation as the world agricultural biodiversity research-for-development centre. It also marked the start of a 12-month campaign to highlight our past achievements and to look ahead as we continue to deliver scientific evidence, management practices and policy options to use and safeguard agricultural biodiversity to attain sustainable global food and nutrition security.

As part of celebrations to mark Bioversity International's 40th anniversary, we are very proud that Professor M.S. Swaminathan, a World Food Prize Laureate and known as the 'Indian father of the Green Revolution' sent us a special video message. Watch it below.
In 1974, Bioversity International was established with the aim of building and expanding the conservation of plant genetic resources around the world.
