Rachel Atkinson is an integrated expert under the CIM/GIZ programme that provides support to the CGIAR centres, focusing on inclusion of genetic and species diversity into forest restoration. The programme works closely with stakeholders to provide technical support on these themes for the implementation of Initiative 20x20, a platform led by countries in Latin America to restore 50 million hectares of degraded land.
Rachel has worked in the Inter-American Development Bank as a biodiversity specialist for project environmental safeguards, in invasive species management and ecological restoration at the Charles Darwin Foundation in Galapagos, Ecuador, the Mauritius Wildlife Foundation in Mauritius, and has done consultancy work in Chile and Cameroon.
