Agnes Casiple-Rola is member of the Program Committee that oversees strategic research program implementation as well as fiduciary responsibilities for the Alliance.
Currently Professor Emeritus at the University of the Philippines Los Banos, Dr. Rola specializes in natural resource economics and policy and social science research and has more than 35 years’ experience in the field of sustainable agriculture and natural resource management research and development. Her body of work includes the economics of integrated pest management, economics of soil conservation measures, water governance, gender and agriculture, role of institutions in rural development, and policy issues in the convergence of water, food security, and climate risk management.
As an agricultural economist, she has served as a consultant in various international organizations and has work experience in Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Morocco, and the Philippines. She was Global Author of the International Assessment of Agricultural Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD); Chapter Review Editor and Lead Author of the Millennium Ecosystems Assessment; oneof 18 Asian scholars in the Asian Regional Consultation of the IDRC to develop its Asian Research and Development Agenda for 2010-2015; member of the Board of Trustees of three international organizations and several local organizations; and Member of the Editorial Boards of national and international journals.
Dr. Rola led two water-related research programs in which she worked with various stakeholders to come up with sustainable strategies for water security at the watershed level. Stakeholders included a river council and two sub watershed management councils which developed watershed based water management plans; and local legislators who crafted ordinances to attain water security.
