Ekesa-Onyango, Beatrice

Beatrice's current work involves developing, managing and coordinating implementation of several nnutrition-related research grants within The Alliance for Bioversity and CIAT and working across different countries with Eastern and Central Africa. In the respective countries, Beatrice works closely with the national research organizations, the line ministries such as Ministry of Health and other international and national development and research agencies.

The main research areas that Beatrice has been working on for the last thirteen years involves, assessing and strengthening the potential for production systems, including related social dynamics to support access to and consumption of diverse nutritious diets.

Beatrice joined Bioversity International in September 2007 as an Associate Expert-Nutrition working on assessing the potential contribution of banana based systems on food and nutrition security of smallholder households within Eastern Africa.

Before joining Bioversity International, Beatrice worked as a District Nutrition Officer 1 within the Ministry of Health in Kenya.
