Devendra Gauchan is currently National Project Manager based at Bioversity International's Nepal office in Kathmandu.
He has a PhD from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, specializing in policy and economics of agricultural biodiversity conservation. He has worked and served in agricultural research and development sector in various capacities in Nepal for over 20 years.
He worked as Post-Doctoral Fellow and Social Scientist at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) from 2008-2011. Before joining Bioversity International, he was the Senior Scientist and Head of Socioeconomics & Agricultural Research Policy Division, at Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC), Kathmandu, Nepal. He has been active in Seed System and Agricultural Biodiversity Policy research in Nepal and one of the core team members involved in drafting of recently implemented Nepal’s long term 'National Seed Vision 2025'.
