Menza, Gianpiero

Private Sector Engagement Coordinator

Gianpiero is a Junior Professional Officer (JPO) assigned to Bioversity International by the Government of Italy. He coordinates Bioversity International’s Private Sector Engagement and works with scientists to develop and implement a private sector engagement strategy that will foster public-private partnerships and strategic relationships that will help take Bioversity International research outputs to scale.

Bioversity International is already engaged with the Committee on Food Security’s (CFS) Private Sector Mechanism and continuing to work with this mechanism will be a key element of the private sector strategy. Gianpiero will support Bioversity International's senior management in identifying opportunities for CGIAR to contribute to the CFS outputs and help facilitate those inputs and he will also research innovative financing mechanisms, impact investing and corporate social responsibility, particularly in the context of The Agrobiodiversity Index.

Prior to this appointment, he served as Private Sector Analyst at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Geneva from 2014 to 2016. In this capacity he supported the work of UNDP in engaging the Private Sector to identify partnership opportunities in order to deliver shared-value among stakeholders while tackling social challenges and building sustainable communities.
