Juliana Muriel joined the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT in August 2018. As an economist focusing on project management of research for development programs, she provides programmatic support to research leaders and has a solid scientific background on mainstreaming gender in research for development projects.
She is currently looking after the overall administration and management of a portfolio of gender research projects, including budgeting, overseeing execution of funds, monitoring the progress of activities, organizing meetings and seminars, and liaising with internal and external partners.
In terms of research, she conducts mix-methods studies in Latin America on topics related to women's empowerment in the agriculture sector, evaluations of adoption of agricultural technologies, yield gaps, and gender roles in the food systems.
