The impact of the Musa International Transit Centre

Review of its services and cost-effectiveness, and recommendations for rationalization of its operations

The study documents the use of the International Transit Centre (ITC) and assesses the impacts created for all types of stakeholders in banana research, production and processing. Recommendations for the improvement of the distribution service are also provided.
The study also evaluates the efficiency of the ITC conservation and utilization strategy. The latter includes the identification, quantification and analysis of the costs of the genebank operations, as well as the evaluation of the performance in terms of service provided to the users and standards maintained in the genebank operations. The purpose is to provide baseline information for developing a strategy for rationalization of the ITC operations.
